Tsugu created the topic: Quick Questions
[Will add any new questions to this post!]
[All answers quoted are from neojac, not me!]

Just had a few things I wanted to ask..

- Any info on what the pricing is gonna look like?

- Will buying in during the alpha mean you'll have access to any future content or will that require further purchases?

"We are looking at current price to be listed at $19.99. With this you get access to all Alpha and beta releases and the full release of Arcfall which includes the full world of the Human Race. We do plan to release DLC at a later stage with other races. There is no subscription to Arcfall, its a buy once play free setup." We do how ever include a item store but all the items in the item store can also be bought with currency earned in game and does not effect game play directly but is more cosmetic."

- Is the release on steam the first time its been open to the public or did you run tests etc beforehand?

"Before the Steam release we have been doing internal testing with other testers to iron out many bugs, although there will certainly still be many. That being said this is still very early stages of development."

- How long has the game been in development?

(Quoted from Steam Discussions)

"...Arcfall itself has been in development for around 6 months." [As of 24/4/17
]

- Also just curious about the ongoing process, will there be full wipes during alpha/beta or is there a chance it'll just be partial wipes?

"There will be full wipes during the alpha phase and maybe during beta. It all depends on what we need to change. Any items that cost money as in rewards or so on will be given back to players on any full wipes."

- What is the PR email address/contact info?

"You can send a email to:
info @ neojac.com"

- Will the game have numerous combat (Blade blunt Arrow so forth) and crafting skills along with navigation skills as well?

"Currently no Navigational Skills, but say for instance lumberjack skill has abilities you can get at certain levels like Strong Arm which gives you a weight buff for a short amount of time, although they are not combat abilities they are useful. For combat for instance you have swordsmanship Skill which give different abilities at certain levels like Sword Bash which stuns target for 3 seconds or Bleeding Strike that bleeds target for certain amount of damage."

- Will there be any magic related skills?

"Yes there is a Magery Skill which has magic abilities but to cast those will require both mana and reagents. What closing you where will also play a important role what you play as. As this is a classless system you can be a warrior wielding a sword and the cast a fire ball when you switch back to a spellbook."

- On the topic of skills, do you have a count on how many are currently learnable? Can players learn everything?

(Will some skills need trainers or is it just player exploration?)

"We currently have 24 different Skills in the game, those might change over time. Most of those Skills don't have any abilities associated yet with them as we will be adding those in over time during the build process. First Ill explain how Skills work. With every action you will gain Skill points in a certain Skill like Farming will give you Farming Skills as you plant stuff and thus allow you to plaint other types of crops the higher you get. Each Skills max points you can gain is a 1000 points. You only have a max amount of Skill points of 7000 all together so you will not be able to learn every Skill their is. You can set your learning curve for a Skill by either increase, decrease or Lock. This way you can change at any time what you learn and don't learn. The Skills currently in is:

Swordsmanship
Magery
Mining
Tinkering
Lumberjack
Tailoring
Refining
Healing
Blacksmithing
Cartography
Alchemy
Carpentry
Archery
Cooking
Fishing
Stealing
Lockpicking
Skinning
Fletching
Bow Making
Gathering
Leather Works
Hewing
Farming

Many Skills are linked to crafting."

- So say for example, I put my 7k skill points towards:

Tinkering / Healing / Cartography / Cooking / Fishing / Gathering / Farming

Didn't take combats, is this viable not taking combats? I get that there's the whole PvP mentality but from what you said about increase/decrease characters I take it players can swap skills and roles if they want?

"That is correct, you can make a pure crafter character and say later decide to go warrior or mage by just decreasing some skills and learning others. Do note that there are some abilities linked to crafting that is semi combat orientated also, like for instance under Lumberjack you get Natures Spirit that increases you max health by 200 for 5 min. On another note you can create multiple characters on one account so can have both a crafter character and a warrior."

- Can the view from above be zoomed in and out? I would like to be able to see more of the environment and look further ahead. View distance seems very limited.

"Yes you can zoom in and out."

- Are villages pre-made or can I found a completely new village with friends?

"Villages are pre-made on the main lands, when we bring in player owned islands they will be setup by players."

- Where are housing zones located? Near existing villages, at pre-defined spots or can I build houses wherever I want?

"Housing zones are located across the map pretty much everywhere but are per-defined. There are also farm land located where you can farm crops. Like you get bigger plots in the city and smaller plots around the city outskirts and in farm areas."

- Are villages safe-zones?

"Villages are safe zones from criminals, and where ever there is a guard present as when they are seen the guards will kill them."

[/b]

- Are founders packs upgradeable? (i.e. If I buy the $100 one now, can I upgrade to the $200 one later?)

"Yes they are."

- Are the founders packs also refundable?

"Unfortunately we can not do a refund once the game has been downloaded as we cant check on our side how long you have player it."
"...The Founders packages is intended to help fund the game so it makes it harder to refund. That being said if in fact you have problems installing it on your computer among other reasons we will still do a refund if the reason is reasonable within a reasonable time frame."

- How big is the dev team? What does it consist of?

"For Arcfall itself we have a small team at the moment, 2 Programmers, 1 Concept Artists and 2 Modelers."[As of 24/4/17]

- Are you using a prebuilt engine like Unity/Unreal or making your own engine from scratch?

"We are using Unity for our Client side and using our own propriety Engine for the server side which allows 2 to 3 thousand players to be logged in on a server. We have been developing our engine for over 10 years now."

- What are the weapons and armors you can craft right now?

"As this is pre-alpha version 0.1 there is very limited amount of weapons and armor in game. You can get up to 3 levels high on some weapons and armor. More will be added in the next few weeks."

- Are there quest or daily quests in some areas?

"The map is also limited as we are using this as a test phase which so far has been going good in regards to frame rate as we average around 80 to 100 which means a non instanced full Continent is coming very soon. With the update to the full continent we will be adding allot of quests as there is only a few in now. As this is a skill based game where every action you do increases your skill and not completing quests, quests are not the most important way to play Arcfall."

- Since PvP and Dungeons have not yet been implemented, once you've finished the "tutorial", what you have to do?.... Is go about collecting crafting materials around or the game now stimulates you to kill mobs or explore the map?

"Right now gathering resources to increase your Skills, learning how to craft and how the game works stimulates you to get to the next skill level with your character."

I appreciate the prompt response!

How long has the game been in development?

Also just curious about the ongoing process, will there be full wipes during alpha/beta or is there a chance it'll just be partial wipes?

(I read that's its a player economy so I guessed that items/money might get wiped but was curious about levels etc)
